WINE WE LIVE FOR

For the past two years, we’ve enjoyed our time with Speckle Rock Vineyards in the LJAWF wine & beer garden. They brought their amazing handcrafted wines to share with our attendees and we became hooked on their offerings. This year, we’re just as excited to visit them at their location off Highland Valley Road in Escondido, spending a fall afternoon enchanted by their wine cocktails, panoramic views and ambiance. It makes for a perfect way to unwind after a crazy work week. 

 

Speckle Rock is known for their award-winning estate Falanghina, a Italian white wine, that won a double gold medal (gold rating from all judges on the panel) at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle wine competition and has continued to be a hit at the vineyard. It's refreshing and very approachable. Check out the tasting notes.

 

The name Speckle Rock comes from the large granite boulders of ‘speckled’ rock that are found all around their estate. Once they decompose, they become a part of the soil and terroir, giving the wines a true sense of place. 

 

Their tasting room is open Thursday to Sunday from 1-7 PM and you’ll be guided through your tasting experience by Alyssa, Sonia, and Tomi. Sonia is the on-site sommelier and enjoys talking about all things wine to novices and wine aficionados alike. A variety of food trucks are also on hand and live music entertains everyone Sunday’s at 4:00PM. Speckle Rock is kid and dog-friendly.
