ARTISTS WE LOVE

Introducing Justin Coopersmith

Like all of us, mixed media fine artist, Justin Coopersmith’s life has been turned upside down and all around during the pandemic.

By continuing his daily practice of working in his art studio on his artistic endeavors, he has been able to find solace and purpose during these uncertain times. He can concentrate on the work at hand and by “the end of the day, have a sense of accomplishment, both visually and mentally”.

Abstract expressionist paintings are his true passion along with landscapes, still lifes, and figurative motifs. He’s been able to continue to cultivate and grow these passions over the past months by stepping back and looking at his business from a big picture perspective. He’s revamped and relaunched his website, is working on commissions from collectors, and started to collaborate creatively with his son, Trevor, an accomplished artist in his own right.

We asked Justin for his thoughts on the following statement, “It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.”

Justin replied, “Approaching a challenging task whether that be art, business, or family, I try to take a patient approach. Because I am 70 years old and had children later in my life (which is the best thing that has ever happened to me), I view life's detours with a macro approach. When something occurs that I am upset about or frustrated with, I always say to myself  “It could be worse” or “This [is] happening for a purpose”. Despite my growing up [in the] turbulent times [of] the 60's, this has shaped my appreciation for the simpler things in life. Of course I am yet to cut off my ear like one of the other famous artists…”

The beauty in Justin and Trevor’s artwork brings a calmness to our daily lives and an appreciation of their craftsmanship. We hope you enjoy their pieces as much as we do.
